BUSINESS PROFESSOR:
Job Description:
Plaza College, located in Jackson Heights, New York and founded in 1916, is a private, independent institution of Higher Education, known for comprehensive and diverse academic programs. Plaza College is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Schools and Colleges and awards both associate and bachelor degrees in many diverse fields such as Business Management, Accounting, Computers, and Allied Health. The student population focuses on obtaining the necessary skills to compete in the challenging workforce of today. The College seeks energetic and experienced individuals to teach human resources management, supervisory management, general business, marketing, management, finance, economics, and introductory statistics courses. Knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required. Reporting directly to the Dean of Academic Affairs, the individual will work closely with students and other faculty members to enhance the College’s academic initiatives. The individual is also accountable for student attendance, records management and retention.
Responsibilities may also include, however, not limited to, instructing for day/evening courses, on/off campus teaching, tutoring and curriculum development, all in alignment with promoting the ‘knowledge and competence’ among Plaza students enrolled in this program. The college projects 2 full time faculty openings and 3 adjunct positions for the Winter Semester beginning January 2010.
Essential Functions
•Teaching all relevant coursework.
•Monitoring student progress
•Academic advisement
•Attendance at College functions including graduation
•Creating opportunities for research studies for students to pursue
•Contributing to curriculum development to enhance the student’s learning experience
Requirements:
•Preferred candidate will possess a Doctorate in Business Administration; M.B.A. or M.S. in related field (management, accounting) will be considered.
•A record of successful teaching, research and service in an academic institution.
•Computer literacy, proficiency with technology Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. (other programs a plus)
•Excellent communication skills (oral/written English)
•Salary commensurate with experience
•Ethics training and HR certifications a plus!
